(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The state Department of Corrections Friday announced it will furlough all of its more than 4,900 employees during the coming year because of state budget cuts.
If approved by the Office of Personnel Management, each employee will be required to take of two to three days a month. The furloughs will run from November through next June and save the department about 15 million dollars.
Corrections Department Director Ron Ward says there is also a hiring freeze and officials are looking for ways to cut another three million dollars from the budget.
