(Pryor-AP) -- A class-action lawsuit claiming Arkansas poultry producers are contaminating Oklahoma water is now targeting two more companies.
A motion was filed Tuesday in Pryor that adds Simmons Foods and Peterson Farms to the list of companies accused of dumping chicken parts and blood that end up in Grand Lake. Attorney Charles Shipley says the move comes after a review of Oklahoma and Missouri records.
The lawsuit filed almost a year ago claims Tyson Foods discharges millions of gallons of wastewater from a Missouri plant that flows into Oklahoma.
The lawsuit says chicken waste is also being carried by rainfall into Grand Lake. The lake has shoreline in Delaware, Ottawa and Mayes counties.
