Recent layoffs of WorldCom and Williams Communications employees have many people in the housing market packing up.
New home listings in Owasso have gone from 44 in June, to 104 in August. Many of those are laid off employees or people who want to downsize on their homes because they're worried about the economy.
Robert Sullivan put his home on the market after losing his job at Williams Communications. "My employer had given me advanced knowledge that my position would be eliminated and we felt it would be appropriate to live in a smaller home."
While listings are up in Owasso, home sales are still strong. Homes in Owasso are on the market on average for 65 days.
