He's part of Oklahoma's jazz legacy and he's in need of support. That's why the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame announced Thursday it will hold a benefit concert for guitarist Barney Kessel, a hall of fame inductee.
The 78 year-old guitar great has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. 16 Tulsa jazz artists will perform September 19th at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, donating all proceeds to help defray Kessel's medical expenses. Tickets are $15.
Kessel performed and recorded with some of America's jazz legends, including Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald.
