NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ The Oklahoma football team worked on team drills Thursday after the Sooners completed the first scrimmage of fall practice.

``It was going so well _ guys were competitive and going after it,'' coach Bob Stoops said. ``I just decided to stay with the team drills'' instead of breaking up into position drills.

Stoops said he was pleaded with quarterback Jason White's performance, which included blocking Jimmy Wilkerson on a reverse play during Wednesday's scrimmage before a crowd of about 7,000.

``It was good _ you've got to do that once in a while,'' he said. ``Of course we don't want him doing it a lot.''

During the two-hour, 92-play scrimmage on Wednesday, White went 13-of-24 passes for 235 yards with one interception and one touchdown. Nate Hybl was 8-of-13 for 127 yards with no interceptions and three touchdowns.

Brent Rawls completed 2-of-7 passes with three interceptions.

``I'm real happy with the quarterback play,'' Stoops said. ``I thought they threw the deep ball well.''

Mark Clayton had five catches for 90 yards, while Kejuan Jones led all rushers with 17 carries for 71 yards. Quentin Griffin had a five-yard rushing touchdown and Hybl had one for 10 yards.

On the defense, linebacker Clint Ingram had 15 tackles, including 12 solos. Tommie Harris and Jimmy Wilkerson had two sacks each, while true freshman Michael Hawkins had two of the four interceptions.

Offensive lineman Jerod Fields missed Thursday's practices with a sore back and defensive lineman Davin Joseph returned after minor cramping from the scrimmage.
