PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ A judge granted a week's delay Thursday for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to try Allen Iverson on charges he threatened two men while armed with a gun.

Municipal Court Judge Seamus McCaffery acted after attorneys for the Philadelphia 76ers' star said they needed more time to prepare for the hearing, which had been set for Monday.

McCaffery described the delay as ``very routine.''

The District Attorney's office consented to the request and the hearing will most likely be held on either July 29 or 30, he said.

Iverson is accused of barging into his cousin's apartment with a gun and threatening two men while looking for his wife before dawn on July 3. Police said Tawanna Iverson had checked into a hotel on July 1 after the couple had an argument.

Iverson's attorney, Richard Sprague, declined to comment on the case, other than to say that Iverson intends to plead innocent.

Lawyers for Iverson and the District Attorney's office will still appear in court briefly Monday, but only for the formality of rescheduling the hearing, McCaffery said. Iverson is not required to attend.
