(Skiatook-AP) -- A Tulsa man has drowned while swimming in Lake Skiatook.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says John Kelly was swimming with two other people from a boat in an area known as Tall Chief Cove.

Troopers say Kelly was swimming toward the boat about 3 Monday afternoon when he went under the water and never surfaced.

The Corps of Engineers recovered Kelly's body about 45 minutes later in 17 feet of water about 100 yards from shore.
