The battle to save year round schools in Tulsa has reached a minor victory.
A $6.5-million deficit forced the Tulsa School Board to cut year-round programs two weeks ago. But in a last ditch effort to save their schools -- year-round supporters offered to continue the programs under the same budget as every other school in the district.
That means TPS will have to find another $300,000 in cuts. Year-round schools aren't in the clear just yet. The School Board will have an official vote on keeping year-round schools open as early as next week or at the next school board meeting in August.
