Two Tulsa Police officers are on administrative leave after a fatal shootout in North Tulsa.
It happened at the Northridge Shopping Center at 5000 N Peoria early Sunday morning. Police say about 500 people were gathered in the parking lot when two fights broke out.
As officers tried to break up one of the fights, police say 21-year-old Andre Talton opened fire into the crowd, injuring two teenagers. Officers fired back, killing Talton.
Larry Terry owns a business nearby. He says violence is up because police patrol less often and that's left some young people looking for trouble. "Sometimes girls have fights and it's not as bad as what guys would be doing; 'cause guys wanna bring out the heavy artillery; and sometimes it just gets real dangerous."
The shooting victims are identified as 18-year-old Chauncey Minor and 17-year-old Cawanna Boyd. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say they no longer have the federal grant that paid for increased patrols in the area.
