Thousands of residents are expected to visit Oklahoma lakes over the Fourth of July holiday.

But, officials are warning everyone to use caution, especially when riding personal watercrafts, such as jet skis. Two people were killed in the last week while riding personal watercrafts in Oklahoma.

Authorities remind the public that it’s illegal to ride a personal watercraft on state lakes between sundown and sunrise. Common problems that can lead to accidents on the water include driving too close to other vessels, driving too fast and driving recklessly.
