Traffic is moving along Highway 169 again, following a fatal accident Thursday morning that shut down the northbound lanes.
Tulsa Police say a 71 year old woman driving on the highway near I-44 suddenly swerved, slammed into the bridge and flipped over. The accident caused the gas tank to rip open and start leaking, eventually the car burst into flames.
Police are trying to figure out what caused her to swerve in the first place. Tulsa Police Lt Luther Breashears, "1 or 2 witnesses said that they thought a car swerved in front of her, causing her to swerve. But, right now that's what we're trying to figure out."
No one else was in the car that crashed. The victim's name has not been released.
