The 2002 Oklahoma Special Olympics are taking place in Stillwater on the campus of Oklahoma State University.
All the fun kicked off Wednesday, but the kids and huggers were out in full force Thursday morning, giving it their all. The events range from races to swimming, golf, track and field and lots more. But, there is a lot more than just athletic competition. Coach Carrie Colburn, “They have a dance, fireworks, lots of different events the Olympic village is great. I'm excited, if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be here right now."
And, Lisa Clem, the niece of one of the news editors at KOTV. She won a gold medal Thursday morning.
