Some local students gave the gift of support to our troops overseas, and Monday those soldiers gave them a gift in return.
Students at Anderson Elementary sent American soldiers fighting the war on terrorism a little note of encouragement. They weren't expecting a response, but that's exactly what they got. A soldier hand-delivered a bundle of letters from troops stationed in Central Asia.
Students say they didn't write the letters to get a response. 11-year-old Dawnesha Crawford, "I was trying to support them and encourage them to do right cause I said you're doing the right thing, you're doing good."
And as an added bonus the kids got to see the soldiers they'd written. A few lucky students got a video message from their new pen pals.
