Officials are calling a bioterrorism disaster drill over the weekend a success.
‘Operation Sooner Spring’ was setup to prepare the state in the event of a bioterrorist attack. The three-day drill simulated pneumonic plague in McAlester, an outbreak of smallpox in Tulsa, while Lawton dealt with botulism.
The series of exercises tested state and local health officials and first responders in dealing with the threat of bioterrorism. Officials say they will evaluate what they learned from the "worst case" scenarios, to see where emergency crews can improve.
Oklahoma will share the information with other communities across the country.
