This week, parents and childcare workers want to remind you that kids are more than a tax deduction.

This is the 'Week of the Young Child' and News on Six anchor, Casey Norton shows us how Tulsa is celebrating.

Balloons weren't the only signs of a party at the Tulsa YWCA Monday morning. Songs and smiles make celebrating the lives of young children easy. That's just one of the lessons, the YWCA is teaching during the 'Week of the Young Child.' Cristy Roberts with the YWCA, "and how important it is for the city to get behind childcare."

Even Tulsa's Mayor Bill LaFortune showed the importance of interaction, by seeing the world at a child's level. "You know what happens when you do that, you learn." And the interaction makes for a lifetime's worth of self-esteem.

A balloon launch was just one event that can inspire the look of wonder on a child's face this week. But, the idea is to see faces light up like this every week. Roberts, "we celebrate children every day. I have one of the only jobs in the country where you get 20 hugs a day."

Monday was 'Read to your Child' day. And weather permitting; Wednesday is fly a kite with your child day.
