A Tulsa man has turned his own disability into a ministry that is about more than words.

Rodney Burnett is deaf and even though he went to church as a child, he couldn't understand the sermons.

Now, he is the pastor of a church for the deaf that uses sign language to communicate God's word.

Members who have hearing spouses, parents or children are welcome too.

Burnett feels preaching in sign is more effective than an interpreter trying to interpret the sermon.

Pastor Rodney Burnett: :"An interpretive service has a lot of big words, sometimes it is hard to understand what the interpreter is doing. I want God's word to be clear using drama and other methods."

The Hands of Love Deaf Chuch has nearly 100 members, and is located Near 11th & Sandusky in Tulsa
