OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma's tourism Web site remained down Tuesday after someone hacked into the site and wrote a profanity about the FBI.
A data processor noticed the problem last week, prompting the state to take down the site (www.travelok.com). Software was being installed to protect against future hacker attacks.
The tourism department's separate agency Web site was hacked into April 8 with similar writings.
``The travelok site is critical because it's travel season, so that is a major concern,'' Tourism Director Jane Jayroe said.
She said the agency hopes to have the sites back up by the end of the week. Some 2,700 people use the travelok.com site each day.
The break-ins come at a time when the agency is promoting its Web site with its major advertising campaign.
Government sites have become popular targets for hackers because of a feud hackers are waging with the FBI, which is cracking down on computer crime across the United States.
