CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ The Family Circle Cup has lost its star power.
Injuries to Lindsay Davenport, Monica Seles and Anna Kournikova have forced the players to withdraw, tournament organizers said.
Davenport retired in her quarterfinal match at the Ericsson Open three weeks ago with a right knee bruise. She was hoping to return in time for the Family Circle tournament, but was advised against it by doctors.
Seles' right foot injury has caused her to miss the past two tournaments. She said her foot is getting better and she hopes to return to the tour soon.
Kournikova has been sidelined since February with a stress fracture in her right foot.
The dlrs 1,2 million WTA tournament will be played from April 16-22 at Charleston, where it moved this year from Hilton Head Island.
