(Washington-AP) -- Replacing U-S Representative Steve Largent could cost Oklahoma thousands of dollars if he resigns his seat early to run for governor.
The cost of a special election would be at least 230 thousand dollars. Election officials say it would cost more than that if there is a runoff, which is likely since there are so many Republicans interested in the race.
Largent says the cost of a special election is one of several things weighing on his mind as he considers whether to resign to run for governor.
The Tulsa congressmen says his decision to run for governor is ``as official as you can get at this time'' because the election is 20 months away.
The state held a special election in 1994 to replace U-S Representative Glenn English, who resigned his 6th District seat.
