(New York-AP) -- Television viewers may need to turn to other channels next fall to see two of their favorite series, ``Frasier'' and ``Buffy the Vampire Slayer.''

Both are becoming free agents, and negotiations between the studios that produce the shows and the networks that air them are being closely watched by people in the industry.

N-B-C West Coast President Scott Sassa this week called his talks with Paramount over ``Frasier'' the most cordial he's ever been involved in, perhaps befitting the sophisticated, high-brow humor of the long-running comedy hit.

Yet NBC's exclusive negotiating window closed at the end of Thursday, meaning Paramount is free to shop the show to other networks.
