(Tulsa-AP) -- The Tulsa County District Attorney says two Tulsa police officers were justified when shooting a 78-year-old man last week.

Jack Harper died during surgery, a day after being shot in the leg by officers Scott Mackechney and Tyrone Lynn in a residential neighborhood.

The officers were responding to a call of Harper firing his shotgun in the air. When they arrived Harper allegedly picked up the shotgun and fired at the officers.

The two officers then returned fire with their revolvers. Harper crawled to a porch and was trying to reload the shotgun when the officers convinced him to surrender.

Neither Mackechney or Lynn were injured during the shooting.
