(Cincinnati-AP) -- Two years ago Aaron McGhee was sitting on the bench at the University of Cincinnati, watching others play.

Today the six-foot-eight forward is the leading scorer for 21st-ranked Oklahoma.

McGhee says he got down on himself and he and Bearcat coaches agreed it would be best for him to get experience at a junior college.

He attended Vincennes University in Indiana last year, where he attracted the attention of Sooner coaches and others.

Now he says he's working to improve his defense and rebounding and hoping to improve his overall game.

For O-U McGhee is averaging more than 14-and-a-half points and over four-and-a-half rebounds per game to go along with 17 blocked shots and improved schoolwork.

He says everything is now going well and - quote - "It's funny how things work out."
