Jackson, Keating meet on Allen execution (Oklahoma City-AP) -- Whether condemned killer Wanda Jean Allen is put to death tonight as scheduled is now in the hands of a death penalty supporter.
Governor Keating is considering a stay of Allen's execution on the narrow issue of whether the state Pardon and Parole Board had enough information about her education.
When asked at noon on C-N-N if he will stop the execution, Keating replied -- quote -- "I don't know." Keating says he has no authority to reduce the death sentence, but could send the case back to the clemency board.
Keating met with the Reverend Jesse Jackson this morning and plans to meet with Attorney General Drew Edmondson before making a decision.
Jackson calls the meeting amicable, and says the two had a good discussion. He says the power is now in the governor's hands.
