STIGLER, Okla. (AP) -- An elderly Haskell County man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his 71-year-old wife, authorities said.

Morris Dewey Fowler, 72, walked into a Stigler coffee shop Saturday morning and told an undersheriff that his wife was dead.

The undersheriff went to Fowler's home five miles south of Stigler, and found the body of Lora Jean Fowler on a bed.

Mrs. Fowler was killed by a blow to the head from a flashlight, investigators said Monday.

Fowler told officials that he and his wife had been arguing.

He is being held without bail in the Haskell County jail.
