(Miami, Florida-AP) -- Oklahoma doesn't have an All-America receiver for Josh Heupel to throw to in a sticky situation.
But it doesn't matter. Oklahoma's spread-the-wealth offense has helped produce a 12-and-oh record and a trip to the Orange Bowl.
Heupel threw for more than 34-hundred yards last year and the Sooners had their first winning season since 1993. This year, he has almost 34-hundred passing yards and Oklahoma is 12-and-oh for the first time in school history.
A lack of experience has forced O-U's receivers to get a crash course in how to run routes, read defenses and block effectively. But they all learned and adjusted quickly.
Steve Spurrier Junior is O-U's receivers coach. Spurrier says Heupel deserves a lot of the credit. He says Heupel has gotten the ball in the receivers' hands. And the Sooner offensive system gives people an opportunity to make a bunch of plays.
