(Undated-AP) -- About a dozen shelters are now open across Oklahoma for residents who are without heat.
Thousands remain without power following the winter storm that dumped snow, ice, freezing rain and sleet on the state.
At the Outreach Center in Sallisaw in eastern Oklahoma, about two dozen people took shelter in one of the few places in town with electricity.
Among them is 62-year-old Opal Harbeston who walked three miles from her home in the country after the power to her trailer went out.
Harbeston says she suffers from arthritis and seldom walks anywhere, but says she's a tough ``country girl,'' and says she knew where she could find a warm place to stay.
