(Tulsa-AP) -- The private firm that operates the Tulsa jail has fired three corrections officers following the escape of a federal inmate.

Corrections Corporation of America says the Katrina Wilson, Marilyn Jones and Kenneth Releford failed to follow proper count procedures. A fourth officer resigned prior to the firings.

Thomas Lynn Weaver escaped from the jail on November 30th by hiding in a kitchen trash cart. He was recaptured about an hour later by police.

C-C-A spokesman Raye Carnes says the officers were fooled by a dummy that was made to look like a body lying on Weaver's bed.

Carnes says the proper way to count a sleeping inmate is to see living, breathing flesh.
