(Oklahoma City-AP) -- U-S Senator Jim Inhofe says he's going to be the chairman of a Senate transportation and infrastructure subcommittee.

Inhofe -- an Oklahoma Republican -- says an official announcement on his appointment will happen January 3rd.

Inhofe says his top goal will be to repeal the law that sends state transportation dollars through the federal government before they go back to the states.

He says 15 percent of the funds are lost because of the routing system.

The transportation subcommittee is under the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
