(Tulsa-AP) -- Approximately a dozen property owners in Tulsa could be stuck with paying for the cleanup of what the city calls an illegal auto salvage business.
An investigation of Williams Salvage Yard found that it's spread over the years from its five legal lots onto 37 other, vacant residential lots. Seven of the land owners say they never gave permission for their property to be used by the salvage yard.
Five of the lots are owned by the city of Tulsa and six others are owned by the Tulsa Development Authority.
The owners of those properties may be billed for the cleanup of junk vehicles as well as weeds, trash and other debris if city contractors do the work.
