TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A former Sand Springs man already sentenced to prison in Missouri has pleaded no contest to raping a teen-ager in Tulsa.
Dean Edwin Beaver entered a plea on Monday in Tulsa County District Court and should receive a 15-year prison term for the first-degree rape of a 16-year-old girl at a Tulsa motel on Sept.
24, 1999, Assistant District Attorney Larry Edwards said.
In accordance with a plea agreement, related counts of kidnapping and forcible sodomy were dismissed. The sentence that Tulsa County District Judge Jefferson Sellers is scheduled to impose Dec. 18 will run concurrently with a 15-year sentence that Beaver previously received in Missouri in an unrelated case, Edwards said.
Police described Beaver and co-defendant Darrell Don Whitaker Jr. of Tulsa as very dangerous when they were at large in 1999. The girl, now 17, reportedly said that she had been repeatedly assaulted.
Whitaker, 31, also has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, records show. He was arrested Nov. 19, 1999 in a room at the same motel after police received a tip that drug activity was under way in the room.
Beaver was arrested Nov. 28, 1999, in Odessa, Mo., after he tried to rob a woman at a mall, investigators reported. He was transported to Tulsa in April for court proceedings here, records show.
