The Mayes County Sheriff wants to know why a man facing drug, and weapons charges was released from a Tulsa hospital as a free man. Gary Sutton of Strang, Oklahoma was charged following a November 17th explosion at Grand Lake that burned Sutton and a woman. Authorities believe the explosion may have been due to a meth lab. They say a knife found in Sutton's pocket had methamphetamine residue on it.
Even though authorities say they had placed a hold on Sutton, Hillcrest released him to the custody of his mother. Hillcrest says at no time was Sutton under arrest, and that they had no authority to hold him.
