NEW YORK (AP) â€” Ed Harris is hoping his new movie about ``drip'' artist Jackson Pollock makes a splash.

``There are some universal things going on in terms of struggle, relationships, the desire to create, the battles people fight with themselves,'' Harris told the Daily News in Sunday's editions during a screening of ``Pollock'' at the Guggenheim Museum.

Harris stars as the abstract expressionist master in the biopic, which is Harris' directorial debut.

For 10 years, the actor has dedicated much of his time and energy to ``Pollock.'' And although the movie is complete, he says his work is far from done.

``Even though I'm going on to other things, I'm still very much involved with the marketing aspect of the movie,'' he said.

``Pollock'' is to open in New York and Los Angeles in December, and nationwide in February.
