GM To Recall Cars in Brazil

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) â€” General Motor's Brazilian subsidiary said Monday it would recall the first 14,665 units of it's new Celta subcompact, because of problems with the suspension system.

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) â€” General Motor's Brazilian subsidiary said Monday it would recall the first 14,665 units of it's new Celta subcompact, because of problems with the suspension system.

The automaker said it has discovered one of the arms supporting the front suspension system could break upon severe impact. No cases of failure have been reported, and the recall was strictly preventive measure, GM said in a statement.

GM launched Celta in Brazil earlier this year in a bid to gain a larger share of the country's fast growing subcompact market.

This is GM Brazil's second recall this year. Last month, GM recalled 1.3 million subcompact Corsa cars manufactured in Brazil between 1994 and 1999 following seat belt failures. The recall also involved some 2,600 German-made Tigra vehicles that were imported to Brazil
