(Broken Arrow-AP) -- Growth is causing Broken Arrow school officials to face a difficult problem, whether to split the high school in two.

With 78-thousand residents, Broken Arrow is the largest city in Oklahoma with just one high school. By comparison, Edmond, with just over 70-thousand residents, has three separate high schools.

Broken Arrow High School Principal Kyle Wood says the campus is built for 25-hundred students, and there are more than two thousand there now. He predicts the completion of an expressway will lead to more growth, forcing officials seriously discuss splitting the high school.

Officials say the idea has been talked about for years, but many fear such a move would also split the town.

Wood predicts the community will be forced to address the issue within the next ten years.
