(Stillwater-AP) -- One of the coaches being mentioned as a possible successor to Bob Simmons at Oklahoma State is apparently popular with other schools as well.

Western Michigan's Gary Darnell is a native of Moore, and a former player and assistant at O-S-U.

Darnell has declined to comment on his possible options. However, he's already being mentioned as a possible candidate for jobs at Rutgers, Missouri and Virginia Tech, in addition to O-S-U.

Darnell's Western Michigan team is fighting for a spot in the Mid-America Conference's championship game. The winner of the conference's championship earns a spot in the Motor City Bowl in Detroit.
