(Tulsa-AP) -- Some poachers have declared open season on deer in a Tulsa park.

Police Sergeant Troy Rogers says workers at Mohawk Park have found two deer carcasses in a parking lot. One had been gutted, but the other hadn't. Police suspect that the hunter was interrupted while field dressing the deer and fled.

Rogers also says a worker at Oxley Nature Center heard what he believed was rifle fire. Workers later found a blood trail.

Rogers said officials are concerned about the safety issue. Children come to the nature center on fall foliage tours. He says it's not a good thing to have hunters shooting in he area.

Rogers says it's a violation of a city ordinance to have weapons in the park, much less hunt or harm wild animals.
