(Nashville-AP) -- Oklahoma native Garth Brooks says that from now on, his children are going to take precedence over his career.
Brooks announced his retirement at a news conference in Nashville today. He says that he will wrap up a couple more projects and will make at least one more album, but says he won't tour anymore.
Brooks also says reports that he's getting a divorce may be premature. He and his wife are considering how a divorce would affect their children.
He says he'd like to make a duet album with Trisha Yearwood, and would work on a soundtrack if a film project works out.
Brooks says he might do a series of television specials to promote his new album. It is set for release on either Mother's Day or Father's Day.
