NEW YORK (AP) — Danielle Steel fans, put away your wallets and head for the nearest bookseller.
One million commemorative editions of the novelist's most popular work will be given away next week to mark the publication of her 50th book, ``Journey.''
``This is certainly a very special month and celebratory milestone for me,'' Steel, whose books have sold more than 400 million copies, said Wednesday. ``I'm very pleased and grateful for the long relationship I've shared with my readers.''
On Oct. 17, the Steel best sellers ``Family Album,'' ``Kaleidoscope'' and ``Fine Things'' will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis. The books, which include a ``thank you'' letter from the author, will be available at superstores, independent sellers, drugstores, supermarkets and wholesale price markets.
The novels, published by Delacorte Press, will not be available online. Barnes & Noble also declined to participate.
``Journey'' goes on sale Oct. 31.
