A pedestrian killed by a freight train four miles north of Claremore in Rogers County has been identified, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Robert James Roberson, 34, of Claremore, apparently was asleep on the track when the train ran over him about 9 p.m. Sunday. The Tulsa Medical Examiner's Office identified Roberson with fingerprints.

The patrol said the 112-car train used safety lights and horns in an unsuccessful attempt to alert the victim and came to rest 5,500 feet from the point of impact.

The patrol said Glenn Darrell Loftis, 49, of Shawnee, was killed Tuesday when the pickup truck he was in was struck by a dump truck at 9:44 a.m.

The collision occurred at the intersection of two Pottawatomie County roads, troopers said. Loftis was a passenger in the pickup and was partially ejected in the collision.

The patrol said he was not wearing a seat belt.
