(Pittsburgh-AP) -- A newspaper is reporting today that Pittsburgh Pirates manager Gene Lamont will be out of a job when his contract expires after this season.
The ``Pittsburgh Post-Gazette'' says in today's editions that Pirates owner Kevin McClatchy has told Lamont that he won't be rehired.
But McClatchy declined to discuss the issue, saying he will address the situation at the end of the season.
Lamont also declined to discuss whether McClatchy told him Tuesday that he will be out as manager when his contract is up.
But first baseman Kevin Young says he'll miss Lamont.
Young says Lamont has a -- quoting now -- ``great baseball mind'' -- unquote. Young also says he has played the best three years of his career under Lamont.
