Lincoln, Nebraska-AP--- Eric Crouch ran for three touchdowns and passed for one more as number-one Nebraska dumped San Jose State 49-to-13. The game was played in 100 degree heat in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Dan Alexander rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns for the Cornhuskers. Correll Buckhalter added 117 yards on 13 carries.

Nebraska had 596 yards of offense while winning their 15th straight opener.

Crouch was just 4-of-10 for 67 yards with two interceptions. He added 57 yards on eight carries.

The Spartans Deonce Whitaker rushed for 147 yards, 121 in the first half.

Marcus Arroyo was 10-for-23 with two touchdowns for San Jose State.
