LOS ANGELES (AP) â€” Rock star David Bowie and his supermodel wife, Iman, welcomed their first child Tuesday, a daughter they named Alexandria Zahra Jones.

The baby was born at an undisclosed hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 4.6 ounces, publicist Mitch Schneider said.

``David assisted in the delivery and cut the umbilical cord,'' Schneider said.

Bowie and Iman, a 45-year-old Somali fashion model, married in 1992.

Bowie, 53, has a 29-year-old son from a previous marriage. Iman has a 22-year-old daughter from her marriage to basketball star Spencer Haywood.
