(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa coach Keith Burns says it's time to cool things down. Burns says the football team's practices will be moved from 4 p-m to 5:30 p-m to try to avoid the extreme heat of the afternoon.
The heat index ran in the 115-degree range during the first week of practices. Burns says while there is some good that comes from getting through 100-degree days, there comes a point where health and safety have to be overriding concerns.
Tulsa trainers say about the typical number of players were affected by the heat during last week's practices. They said five or six players needed I-Vs the first day of practice.
