COLLEGE FOOTBALL 2000: If Nebraska, Texas meet, it'll be for Big 12 title

(Dallas-AP) -- Looks like the Big 12 title this year will again be settled in a playoff showdown between top-ranked Nebraska and #7 v Texas. With no regular season matchup between the traditional powers, the preseason favorites have to win their divisions, then meet in the league's championship game.

If that's the case, they'll meet December 2nd. That is, unless Nebraska loses November 11th at eighth-ranked Kansas State or Texas fails to take advantage of a weak schedule. The Cornhuskers beat the Longhorns 22-to-6 in last year's Big 12 title game. That defeat was the only blemish in a 12-and-1 season. But it cost Nebraska a shot at the national title.
