FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Kevin Trainor, the associate sports information director for the last two years at the University of Arkansas, was named sports information director at the university Tuesday.
Trainor replaced Rick Schaeffer, who served 24 years at the University of Arkansas before accepting a position with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes this summer. "We made a good national search and confirmed that the best candidate was already in our house," athletic director Frank Broyles said. "Kevin's low-key confidence and professional ability will serve the Razorbacks and media very well."
Trainor, a 1994 University of Arkansas graduate, is entering his sixth year in the university sports information department. Before joining the university full-time, he spent one year as a media relations assistant at the Southeastern Conference office in Birmingham, Ala. He assumed his new post Tuesday.
