Picking up school supplies can be costly. So before the school bell rings, Consumer Credit Counseling has some advice to help you save.

First, get a list of supplies from the school now and start saving money from each paycheck. "Buy supplies when you see them on sale before the school season hits where it doesn't totally sabotage your budget for that month," said Consumer Credit Counselingâ€™s Meredith Exline.

Travel Tips

July and August are peak travel months, and also peak times for thieves to break into your home. Insurance companies say most burglaries are preventable.

The insurance industry offer several tips to make your homw safe when traveling. First, install exterior lights out of reach. Trim trees and shrubs near your doors and windows. Have someone pick up your mail and newspapers, or ask the post office to hold them. Leave blinds open in their usual position. Finally, turn down the telephone ringer and answering machine so they can't be heard outside.
