(Irving-AP) -- Longtime Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin today announced his retirement. Network officials confirm Irvin will be joining Fox Sports as a T-V football analyst.
Cowboys coach Dave Campo says Irvin was the most competitive receive and a great worker, but also is someone who inspired everyone.
Irvin got hurt October tenth against Philadelphia. He was temporarily paralyzed by a herniated disc. Irvin later learned he has a dangerously narrow spinal cord.
Irvin's 12 years with the Cowboys established him as one of the top receivers. He finishes with 11, 904 yards, which is ninth in N-F-L history.
Irvin in 1996 was arrested and pleaded no contest to cocaine possession. He was ordered to do 800 hours of community service and was put on four years of probation. Irvin also was suspended by the N-F-L for five games.
