(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Records show five negligent-death lawsuits have been filed against nursing home owner James Smart in the past five years.

Smart was indicted last week on a federal bribery charge.

The most recent suit was filed two months ago by a Luther woman against Harrah Nursing Center in Oklahoma County.

Ophelia Taylor alleges in the suit that her father, Alfred Benjamin McInturff, suffered excruciating mental and physical pain and permanent disability. She alleges that lack of basic care caused McInturff's death.

Attorney Micky Walsh says McInturff's survivors believe bedsores left untreated caused the internal infection that killed him. Walsh says simply turning McInturff at regular intervals could have alleviated the problem.
