(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Tick experts say you should save ticks if you find one on you. It could be important for your health.

Bob Barker is an entomologist at Oklahoma State University.

Barker says by identifying a tick, they can tell what disease you may or may not have if you get sick. And he says it's important to write down the date of the tick bite.

Barker says symptoms appear within three to 14 days if a person is going to become ill.

Tick-transmitted diseases typically begin with flu-like symptoms such as headache, fever and body aches. He says the diseases can be treated with antibiotics.
