JAY (AP) -- Delaware County prosecutors said they plan to file conspiracy to commit murder charges against two Grove boys after authorities found a "hit" list targeting 40 middle school students.
Assistant District Attorney Kathy Baker said the two13-year-olds are in juvenile custody after they allegedly intended to harm 40 classmates. The names of the boys have not been released because of their ages.
"We haven't filed charges yet, but we plan to early next week," Baker said.
Baker said the two would be charged as juveniles. Both teens will be charged with conspiracy to commit murder, she said. One also will be charged with grand larceny, while the other will be charged with knowingly concealing stolen property, Baker said.
Grove Police Chief Mark Wall said a concerned parent called police Monday and reported a list with 40 names and said children might be in danger. During a search of one boy's bedroom, police seized the list, Wall said.
The boys were taken into custody a short time later and placed in a juvenile detention center, where they underwent psychological evaluations, the chief said.
"We're working on a motive, and we've added an extra patrol at the middle school." Wall said.
